2010 Grace Ann Durr Humanitarian Award

alt

Recently, Dorothy "Dottie" Fountain, who has been a Blue Bird for 25 years, logging more than 75,000 volunteer hours, won the Grace Ann Durr Humanitarian Award in the volunteer category.

Dottie was nominated by several people, who echoed praises for her permanent smile, willingness to help where needed without complaint and sewing and stuffing toys for distribution to the smallest visitors at Methodist Children's Hospital.

"Dottie Fountain is the epitome of what being a Blue Bird means. Her entire time as a Blue Bird is a single, ongoing event of enormous dedication to the hospital and its patients, their families, staff and visitors," said Margy Lohoff, former director of volunteers. "She is incredibly versatile, working in any area where a Blue Bird is needed. Dottie has mentored and trained many a new volunteer, imbuing them with her attitude of helpfulness, caring and kindness."
